Domain Traffic Explanation
What
is domain name traffic?
Whenever you visit a website either by clicking from a link on another website
or by typing the domain name directly into the browser your visit to that site
is classed as traffic. The more visits a website gets the higher the traffic
it is said to have.
When
a domain expires, it may still get a lot of traffic from people that are still
looking for the website that used to be on the domain. They either type the
domain directly in because they remember it from previous visits or they find
a link listed on other websites and directories.
If
someone looses their domain by not renewing it in time the chances are that
the domain gets a lot of traffic from people expecting to visit the website
that the previous owner had spent a lot of time and money marketing.
These domains are very popular amongst domain name speculators because they
can earn money from the traffic by redirecting it to pay per click search
engines and directories.
Even
though the domain name itself may seem very unique and at first glance not
have much resale potential, if it is getting high levels of "domain traffic"
then speculators would pay high premiums to purchase the domain at the point
of expiry.
You should be aware of this because if you are hoping to get
the .com to your domain extension or if you are trying to recover a .com that
you recently lost. It is important that you understand the domain will not be
as easy to recover as you would hope.
In such cases we would strongly recommend you use our
domain acquisition service.
